I like to drive that road, and between the seriously stupid pedestrians around and the tourists driving at 5 km/hr and the locals passing on blind corners at 120 km/hr, it can be a challenge at times.

I remember that! I didn’t realize where it was. I could see that happening along there, or maybe with bicycles four-abreast. (Don’t start me!)

LOVE that river road. I used to cycle it until it got too rutty on the sides.

It’s also the one location where I’ve ever had to perform a serious emergency manoeuvre. At the very bottom of the hill, before the long riverside stretch, I came around the corner to find 6 people walking, stretched across the entire width of the road. Worse, they bolted in both directions. I tried to brake and started to skid on a patch of run-off, so I chose the rock over the railing and pushed the nose of the car off the road.
