new bike!
I bought a bike today! I’d been thinking of buying a new bike since last summer, because my road bike (Giant Peloton 8200) and nyxie’s hybrid (Trek 7100) weren’t really so great for riding together — I couldn’t go on gravel paths and found it uncomfortable to keep my speed down, and Look pedals don’t lend themselves to a quick ride for coffee. So I wanted something sort of hybrid-ish too, but not quite as cushy and upright as hers.

Yeah, I’m all about practical on the splash guards. 10km yesterday on wet streets (snow melting) and nothing on me to suggest I was riding. There’s always the dirt-bike style fenders which don’t work as well as the wraparounds but work better than nothing.

It was CAD $449. I think Kona holds its dealers to list prices pretty closely; their site shows USD $349 list.

I always thought splash guards on bikes looked a little… queer. But maybe I’m such a tough guy that I don’t mind getting mud and shit on me.

How much did that cost you? I’m in the market for a bike this summer.

let me know how you like the bike. now that spring is here, i need to get a bike to ride the 3 miles or so to work. gots to get my big butt off the chair/car seat/couch :)
