It was come and go for a while but I see it’s no longer Temporarily Down. That’s too bad. As for the asx file, “mplayer -playlist” works fine for me, and they point to mms://wm.cbc.ca/cbcr2-toronto.

two years later and CBC still doesn’t broadcast radio 2 as Ogg.I just joined the Unix/Linux club,and can’t get my version of Player (1.07) to decode the asx files from CBC radio 2.Is this still possible?

There was a post to OCLUG regarding that, which prompted many OCLUG members to write and complain. I could play the streams just fine, thanks to win32 codecs, but it's unclear as to whether that's legal, at least in the U.S., thanks to the DMCA. Ogg is a much better choice, and I was surprised to see them recommending mplayer and Xine. We're getting there slowly.

Yeah, you should have seen the angry letter I fired off wheN they made the change…found out the reason my mplayer wasn’t working was because of a use flag in Gentoo I hadn’t found out about, preventing my mplayer from playing anything but local files…

Of course, I’ve solved my local problem, but ogg is a Good Thing.
